October: Talks, tapas & tiny homes🏡

October has been packed full of activities, including talks on entrepreneurship, the science of alternative proteins & AI safety, as well as coworking and a visit to a tiny home. We hope you enjoy reminiscing or experiencing fomo (sorry!), and that we can keep this great momentum going into November.

Creating meaningful change through entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurs Pablo Melchor of Ayuda Efectiva and Emma Stoks of Ambitious Impact (AIM) gave a fascinating talk on their unique approaches to social impact at MOB Bailèn Eixample, followed by networking and interesting discussions. You can watch their presentation on Youtube here.

AI Safety Barcelona continues to grow

The second event organised by the new student group AI Safety Barcelona took place at Universitat Pompeu Fabra. Research scientist and Cambridge PhD Adriá Garriga-Alonso shared his latest work on mitigating AI risks, which was followed by a Q&A, some mingling & pizzas. If you’d like to learn more about AIS Barcelona and see how you can get involved, you can visit their brand new website here.

Tapa Talks with ESAlogika

EA Barcelona collaborated with the Environmental Social Association of Barcelona (ESAlogika) for their TapaTalks workshop on alternative proteins, featuring Ricard Soler, Anya Reshetnyak and special guest, Marc Coloma, co-founder of Heura, one of Spain’s fastest-growing plant-based meats companies. We got to try their new York ham! 😋 If you’d like to learn more about ESAlogika and their TapaTalks series, you can join their Meetup group here.

Coworking

Of course, we enjoyed our usual coworking session at Sopa, this time sharing ideas on global health, the fashion industry and troubleshooting some problems with our website :D

Tiny home visit!

Despite the rainy weather, a group of made it out to La Floresta to visit our member Jakob’s tiny home (30 square metres!). We enjoyed a special tour, a delicious felafel lunch and played an interesting boardgame called “Cuarto”. We thank Jakob and his wife Helena for hosting us 🙏
