November: EAGx, fellowship and novel approaches to impact 💡

The month of November featured our EAGxVirtual conference viewing, the kick off of our first introductory fellowship, and the release of a very unique music album. We hope you enjoy reading through these summaries and look forward to seeing you one last time before the end of the year!

Connecting Minds to Tackle Global Challenges

EA Barcelona hosted an in-person viewing of the EAGxVirtual 2024 conference, bringing together 18 passionate individuals eager to learn how we can we tackle humanity’s biggest challenges. It was a vibrant atmosphere of curiosity and connection, and we’d like to thank everyone who joined us for your thoughtful insights💡

EA Barcelona starts its first ever Introductory Fellowship!

Our first EA intro fellowship is off to a great start! So far, we’ve explored differences in impact, rationality, global health and animal welfare, and had lots of thoughtful discussions on how we can each maximise our positive impact. We’re excited to keep building on these ideas!

(Sad you missed out? Remember you can join a virtual program from anywhere!)

Coworking

We were enjoying a productive session at Sandwichez Provença, when a biosecurity expert unexpectedly joined us and took this photo…. I wonder if anyone can guess who it was?🤔

Sometimes EA can lead to tunnel vision, making us feel that if something isn’t the most effective action, it’s not worth trying 😕 But it’s also important to stay open to exploring and diversifying our efforts.

According to Chris Anderson, head of TED, there are five rules for spreading generosity online:

1. Unlock Real Emotion – Emotions resonate widely.

2. Get Insanely Creative – Imagination gets noticed.

3. Dig Deep for Courage – Courage inspires.

4. Reach Out and Collaborate – Partnerships amplify impact.

5. Build an Amplifier – Use tools and platforms to spread your message.

We believe that Ricard has done a fantastic job of embodying these principles in his latest project: “Parets de Vidre” (Walls of glass), a rap album and music videos on the many problems of animal agriculture. You can listen to Parets de Vidre on all streaming platforms now.
